City of London Toastmasters hosts lively, structured, in-person meetings on the 1st, 3rd and 5th (where there is one) Tuesday of each month, in the evening at St Botolph’s Church on Aldgate High Street. Each meeting has its own theme and is designed to help you build public speaking and leadership skills in a supportive setting.

The church opens at 6:15pm and the meeting starts promptly at 6:30pm. You can see upcoming dates on our meeting calendar, and members can find every meeting’s agenda on ToastHost.

Meeting Structure

Meetings usually run in two halves.

First Half: Prepared Speeches and Guest Introductions

Club members deliver prepared speeches, usually tied to the Toastmasters Pathways programme. It’s a chance for speakers to show off their preparation and delivery. After the speeches, we welcome and introduce our guests.

Second Half: Evaluations and Table Topics

Evaluators give constructive feedback on the earlier speeches. Then comes Table Topics, where participants are invited to speak off the cuff on a surprise prompt. It’s a fun, fast-paced exercise in quick thinking, and a highlight for many people.

Flexibility and Variation

To keep things fresh, we occasionally reverse or adjust the order of the programme. This helps members adapt to different speaking and leadership challenges and keeps everyone learning.

Community and Support

Our club is warm, welcoming and a great place to practise in front of a supportive audience. Every meeting is a chance to grow, build confidence and meet new people, whether you’re an experienced speaker or have never spoken in public before.
