Changes are afoot…

Here at City Speakers we’re all about self development, about making you more confident and assured as public speaker and giving you the tools that you need to go out and speak in the “real world”.

As a club we also need to continuously develop so that we provide the best possible platform for your personal development. With this in mind (and in true toastmaster fashion), there are 3 major changes ahead for the club that I’d like to tell you about now:

Website

You’re looking at the first major change right now: the website. We’ve long felt that the old website was looking a bit dated and in need of a major overhaul so here’s what we’ve come up with. It’s still in the initial stages right now but expect to see loads of content published here including club news, club newsletters, public speaking hints, pictures from meetings and so on.

Clubplan

Despite clubplan serving us well for years now, it’s quirks and foibles are starting to grate on us a little too much so we feel as a club that it’s finally time to move away and transfer our club planning to a different system called D71 (website). This move may be slightly painful at first but after the bedding-in period, we hope all our members agree that it’s the right way forward.

Venue

Lastly, by the end of this year, we’ll no longer be able to use the Trident Bar & Restaurant as it’s closing down. For our first meeting in 2013 on the 15th of January we’ll be in a completely new venue and it promises to be a cracker! The Trident has served us well as a venue but it did have it’s limitations; size being one of it’s major downfalls, well  we won’t have that problem in the new venue… Once everything is confirmed, all will be revealed!

So that’s it, we hope you all enjoy the changes we’re making and I’ll see you at a meeting soon!

Kind Regards,

Ian Macfie
